Born from a love of amber hunting.

Amber Forecast began with a simple question: When is the best time to head to the beach to look for amber?

My family and I love searching for amber along the Danish coast. But we often found ourselves wondering when the conditions might be right. We were missing a simple way to know when and where to go.

Having spent much of my career working with data, digital products and user experience, I began wondering whether technology could help answer that question.

Wind, waves and sea currents all influence how amber moves along the coast. And it's not just today's weather that matters, but how conditions have developed over several days. I wanted to bring these different factors together and turn complex information into something simple, accessible and genuinely useful.

That idea became Ravvejr, launched in Denmark in 2024. What started as a tool for our own family grew into a service used by other amber hunters and featured in major Danish media.

Amber Forecast builds on that foundation, bringing the same approach to more coastlines and more people around the world.

Of course, the sea will always hold surprises. No forecast can promise you'll find amber. But knowing when conditions are promising can make the search even more rewarding.

And perhaps that's part of the magic: long walks along the coast, fresh sea air, time spent with family and friends, and the excitement of discovering a little piece of amber among the stones and seaweed.

Happy hunting!
